Plum brandy is the most famous Croatian brandy. Plum brandy is also a synonym for brandy in general, while the most popular types are the following: Slavonian, Serbian, Bosnian and Lika Brandy...
Our brandy, Plum brandy Stilanova Lika, originated from an autochthonous plum sort called Bistrica plum, a sweet and tasty fruit that has a high percentage of sugar in the ripeness phase 20-25%.
A lot of effort is invested in the harvesting process so that the preparation for the fermentation process includes only completely healthy and ripe fruit while the process is being performed in a relatively controlled environment.
The distillation process is being performed on a modern device, a copper cauldron with a capacity of 300 liters and with double bottom and device for separating methyl alcohol. The distillate, final product, is kept in oak barrels for a minimum of two years repectively for the duration of the process of maturation of brandy. Further aging, about 3 years, takes place in glass jars in rooms with stable temperature.
The entire production process for Plum brandy Stilanova Lika respects the traditional manner of production as well as application of modern technological processeses and equipment resulting in a high quality product.
